May the blessings we receive keep us ever in the graces of God and in our spiritual lives. As we live “For God and Country,” we continue to build upon the dreams of the American Legion.

As we move forward from 2023 and further into 2024, I pray that you like I have come closer to God, family, friends, and our American Legion family. I have come to realize more and more what it means to serve “For God and Country.”

During the past few months, I have worked with veterans and their families to overcome life’s challenges so that they could move forward into the new year. On behalf of the post and district, I have sent cards of hope to ailing and grieving families, visited the sick, and I have celebrated the successes and accomplishments of many veterans and their families. I hope that you too have had the opportunity to reflect on 2023 and look forward into the future with hope and gratitude.

As we move forward, we plan to celebrate the Four Chaplains in February at Post 95 and I hope that other posts in District 7 will also do so. We will also acknowledge the lives of our deceased Legionnaires at the annual District 7 conference later this year. I pray that we will all work to help improve the lives of veterans, their families, and our communities.

I hope to help all who need spiritual guidance as we move forward. Having recently recovered from and become a survivor of Kidney Cancer, I am available to attend your events and offer prayers and to be there for your individual and family counsel. I plan to start visiting the many posts in District 7 so that I can be of assistance to them and help those in need of a Chaplain to find one.

I also want to hear from you. The Chaplain’s Corner is here to meet your spiritual needs and I am always open to your suggestions. If you have a topic that you would like me to address in the Chaplain’s Corner, please let me know so that I can address it. When one legionnaire, Son, or Auxiliary member has a question for me to address, I know that others want that information as well. I am here to serve you and need your input to do that.

The American Legion has come a long way in the past year, and we have a long way to go in meeting the needs of our comrades. Do more than be a member. Be an active member and get involved in the many activities of the post, the district, and the department. There is much to do, and you can be a part of it.

It is an honor to be of service to the American Legion, Sam Houston Post 95, District 7 and to you. If I can assist in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me at 832-381-7788 or at Redwine202010@outlook.com Together in service and unity we serve those who need assistance.

May the Blessings of God Be with you All

“For God and Country”
